Spore was a game that came out in 2008, and was incredibly ambitious. The player started as a single cell organism and developed all the way to a space-faring civilization. Not only that, players could create their own creatures, buildings, vehicles and flora. Add to this the fact that a lot of the textures needed to be applied procedurally, and making art for this game could be quite challenging. Even so, this project was a whole lot of fun, and I'm really glad I got to work on it. There was a lot of playfulness and humor in the game, and we wanted to make sure the game style reflected this. I worked on a lot of different aspects, especially the editors that the player would use. I did a lot of design work, UI, user experience mockups, not to mention creating a ton of assets. Below you can see a sample of these.
